Find Your Adventure — with Red Rope

Wintry walk on Moel Ferna

Red Rope is a national club for socialist walkers, climbers and mountaineers

  • No need to belong to any particular political party, but our ethos is distinctive.
  • We strive to be inclusive and just over half our members are women.
  • We’re welcoming new members and beginners
  • Subscriptions and trip charges depend on which of five income bands you are in. Annual subs are from £13.50 to £55, but half price now to get you started.
  • Cooking and eating on our trips is always communal. and usually vegetarian.
  • Our “action fund” supports members campaigning on access and environmental issues. We work with the Ramblers and the Open Spaces Society.

We run weekend and week-long trips to all Britain’s mountain regions, and our regional groups also organise day walks and climbs.

Individual members can book to stay at the Lancashire Mountaineering Club huts in North Wales (Beddgelert) and the Lake District (Blea Tarn) and the BMC national huts. They get all the benefits of affiliation to the British Mountaineering Council or Mountaineering Scotland, including discounts at outdoor shops.
