National Trips

Red Rope organises at least ten National Trips every year. Any member can book onto a National Trip – they tend to book ahead quite fast and there may be a waiting list – but 2 places are saved up to 3 months before, for members new to trips!

Fri 23 Jan to Fri 30 Jan 2026 National Trip to Seafarers, Scarborough 7 nights, 8 places.

There will also be a well-behaved dog (Cosmo, who has been on a RR trip before and enjoyed it). Scarborough is a great Victorian seaside town and has a good theatre and cinemas.

Sat 21 Feb to Sat 28 Feb 2026 National Trip to Banavie, Lochaber

National Trip to Banavie, 3 miles from Fort William. 7 nights. 8 places: 1 x double, 6x single beds. Red Rope finally returns to Lochaber for a winter mountaineering trip, get your crampons and ice axes ready. View of the mighty Ben Nevis from the cottage (fingers crossed for snow). Hot tub, useful after a chilly day!

Fri 6 Mar to Fri 13 Mar 2026 National Trip to Corrydon Lodge, Glenshee

National Trip to Corrydon Lodge in Glenshee, southern Cairngorms, Friday start for 7 nights, 8 places in twin or double

Sat 25 April to Sat 2 May 2026 National Trip to Kirkton of Assynt, Inchnadamph, NW Highlands.

Saturday for 7 nights, 10-11 places (dependent on sleeping arrangements as the accommodation includes two doubles and a shared cabin).

Thur 15 May to Sun 17 May 2026 National Trip to the Roaches Staffordshire Peak District, at the unique Don Whillans Memorial hut ‘Rockhall’

for 3 nights, 10 places are booked in the hut for the 14th and 12 places for the

Sat 15 Aug to Sat 22 Aug 2026 National Trip 7 nights at High Moss, in the Duddon Valley, Seathwaite. (Lakes)

15 places are reserved at this spacious, comfortable hut with lots of bunk rooms in a beautiful, off-the-beaten-track
part of the Lake District. Walking, cycling, climbing, swimming and The Newfield Inn within walking distance!
No dogs are allowed in this accommodation.
Two places will be reserved up to 3 months before the trip (15th May 2026) for members who are new to National Trips.

Fri 2 Oct to Sun 4 Oct 2026 National Gathering Foundry Adventure Centre in The Peak District National Park.

This comfortable bunkroom style centre is situated in the village of Great Hucklow, central to the national park and close to many of the area’s attractions. It provides excellent access for walking, climbing, and cycling. The accommodation includes a spacious lounge, library, wood burning stove, TV and Wi-fi. The kitchen is fully equipped for group catering
and the dining area is equipped for serving and seating up to 60 people. There are 4 male and 4 female showers, in two bathrooms with private lockable cubicles, plus an additional bathroom with 2 showers, 2 sinks and a toilet. The building is situated in 2 acres of enclosed land with grass, trees and car parking.
Group activities will be provided, including a Treasure Hunt and potentially a quiz. If you have ideas for other activities please contact the organiser.
As this is our largest booking of the year we are applying a 25% multiplier for members, and there will be a one third discount for members who haven’t been on a national trip before.  Organiser Gill Platt
